Call for a National State of Emergency and Restoration of Order in South Africa

We, the undersigned citizens and residents of the Republic of South Africa, hereby declare: That our communities are facing an unprecedented crisis of lawlessness, violent crime, corruption, and social instability. Every day, we witness the erosion of safety, justice, and public trust in our institutions. The lives and livelihoods of ordinary South Africans are being destroyed while impunity thrives.

We Demand Urgent Action:

1. Declare a National State of Emergency To enable decisive and coordinated government response to address widespread unrest, looting, political violence, and organized crime.
2. Deploy the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) To support the South African Police Service (SAPS) in restoring law and order, especially in the most affected provinces and municipalities.
3. Launch a Crackdown on Corruption Establish independent, transparent task forces to root out corruption within all levels of government, law enforcement, and state-owned entities.
4. Protect the People, Not the Powerful Uphold the human rights and safety of South Africans during all security operations. Emergency powers must not be used to silence dissent or target the vulnerable.
5. Rebuild Trust in Public Institutions Create urgent channels for civil society, faith-based organizations, youth leaders, and community groups to participate in national stabilization efforts.

This petition will be delivered to national and provincial government offices, the Presidency, media outlets, and civil society leaders.
