Petition to City of Tshwane Demarcation Board

Councillor Naeem Patel has taken a firm and principled stand against the proposed changes to Ward 61’s boundaries as outlined in the first draft of the new ward demarcations presented on 20 June 2025. He has formally submitted his objections to the Demarcation Board, highlighting serious concerns about service delivery, lack of consultation with affected communities, and the potential splitting of cohesive voting districts such as Geraardsville and Mooiplaats.

We, the undersigned residents, stakeholders, and concerned community members, fully support Cllr Patel’s submission. We believe that:

Laudium’s six current voting districts must remain unchanged, with no movement of voters to Atteridgeville.

Erasmia must remain in Ward 61 without any alteration to its current ward assignment.

Geraardsville residents must be consulted before any move to Ward 48.

The split Mooiplaats voting district should not be added to Ward 61, due to infrastructure and service delivery challenges.

Ward 61 already faces significant demands, and adding further responsibility without community consultation will only deepen existing challenges.

📅 Deadline for Public Comment: 30 June 2025

I wish to maintain the composition of Ward 61 as it is currently constituted. By dividing existing constituencies or adding constituencies which lack proper infrastructure will impact service delivery.
