Good day Traffic Services,

Much respect to you and your team. We need your urgent assistance.

Every morning Kensington residents witness brazen traffic lawlessness at the Voortrekker crossings. Taxis and private vehicles are repeatedly ignoring barriers and traffic controls, making illegal turns through the barrier at 4th Avenue and driving the wrong way and recklessly at the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Avenue crossings onto Voortrekker. These are not isolated incidents this is daily, dangerous, and unacceptable.

Specific complaints and behaviours • Illegal turns through the barrier at the 4th Avenue crossing. • Vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road at the 5th–8th Avenue crossings. • Reckless driving and speeding through intersections and pedestrian areas. • Taxis from the Kenfac Taxi Association regularly: jumping stop streets; loading passengers in the middle of the road; reversing into oncoming traffic; stopping in the middle of four-way stops and intersections.

A resident who was involved in an incident with a Kensington taxi was threatened. I will forward a voice note of the incident for your records and urgent review.

• Immediate intervention and visible enforcement presence during morning peak times. • Targeted enforcement action at the 4th–8th Avenue crossings onto Voortrekker. • Engagement with the Kenfac Taxi Association to stop dangerous driving and intimidation. • Regular reporting back to the community on actions taken and measurable outcomes.

We appreciate your support and expect decisive action. Kensington residents deserve safe streets and transparent accountability. Please treat this as urgent and advise on next steps.

    Traffic is a nightmare. Taxis are unruley and urgent action needs to happen before lives are taken due to wreakless driving

    Traffic congestion is already hectic, then you have taxis driving against incoming traffic in the wrong lane and generally ignoring the rules governing road-use... Especially 4th /5th and 6th Avenues (exit routes from the area into Voortrekker Road)

    I agree that this is unacceptable, they drive as there are no rules made for them. And in general on the road, they are horrible means of transportation! I wish they can just get them off the road full stop, get proper taxi's with responsible drivers!
